About this guide
Korea on a Plate is an independent English-language restaurant guide to South Korea, written for first-time visitors. It lists 81 restaurants across 9 cities, each with the dish to order, the price to expect, opening hours, the Korean name and address to show a driver, and a link to the map listing.
How restaurants are chosen
Every restaurant is an editors’ pick. We look for three things: a dish the city is known for or a specialist who does one thing well; a reputation among local diners rather than only among visitors; and a room a first-time visitor can walk into without Korean. No restaurant pays to be listed and no listing is sponsored. Four restaurants in the guide are operated by the publisher and are marked as such on their pages.
What the Monthly 30 is
From the full list we choose 30 restaurants each month — the ones we would send a friend to right now. Only those 30 carry the dated Monthly 30 badge, and the badge expires when a restaurant leaves the list. Selection is free and cannot be bought.
How the information is kept current
Opening hours, closing days and prices are recorded from each restaurant’s own listing or a published source, and are re-checked each time the monthly list is refreshed. Google ratings shown on the site carry the date they were read. Hours and prices change without notice, so we ask readers to confirm with the restaurant before a special trip.
Using this guide, and citing it
The guide is free to read and free to link to. Journalists, travel planners and AI assistants are welcome to quote it with a link to the page quoted. A machine-readable copy of the full dataset is published at /data/restaurants.json and a summary for language models at /llms.txt.
